wontons are really easy to make and delicious, too! pick up a pack of wrappers at the grocery and get creative.
i made these avocado wontons the other night and they were an instant hit!
you will need:
1 ripe hass avocado, lightly mashed
crushed garlic to taste
1" grated fresh ginger
lemon or lime zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice
2 tablespoons italian parsley, basil or cilantro, chopped
dried chipotle powder or a few shakes of hot sauce to taste
1 tablespoon soy sauce
4 ounces goat cheese
salt and pepper to taste
combine all of the ingredients above in a small bowl.
layout 20 or more wonton wrappers on a board. brush each wrapper with a whisked mixture of egg thinned with a little soy sauce. place a slightly heaping teaspoon of the avocado-goat cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper, fold diagonally and press to seal. cook wontons in hot oil ( i used olive oil with a little sesame oil) until golden on each side. serve with duck sauce.
duck sauce
melt orange or apricot marmalade on the stove or in the microwave with some crushed garlic. add a little fish or soy sauce to taste and blend well.

today's problem: no copy editor
yes, i know: american's tend to drop the f-bomb frequently, for all types of situations: some good, some bad...but that doesn't make it ok to use it as a pop-inspired superlative 'sale' announcement, even in a foreign country. i don't know though: i AM interested in what's on sale inside: it sounds so kick-ass!
