these days, there is a pop-up for everything, and art galleries are no exception. salon week dc's version opened yesterday, runs thru this saturday and showcases the latest works of 60 local artists.

puppy love

spring cleaning

 i started cleaning and organizing my studio back in january, and i finally finished: there is a place for everything and everything is in it's place.

i even organized myself by putting each of my projects on a slip of yellow paper, listing the steps i need to perform in order to complete each one, and hanging them in a prominent place where i would see them daily.

now, just gotta do it!

three little pigs guard my vintage jewelry...polly pocket sits quietly amongst the (also vintage) hip-hop cd's. i love the drawing above the mirror of me and the mister given to me by five year old neighbor, grace:

my work bench is completely organized

unfinished work on the right foreground has been separated by color...plastic up-cycled (!) sushi trays hold parts...my glow-in the-dark chandelier wind chimes hang at the rear of this area, with supplies stored in clear glass containers on the stainless steel shelf behind.

 it took a lot of work, but it has been worth the effort to be able to find anything/everything i need to be more efficient during studio sessions.

my latest custom order for a lovely local lady was for nine pairs of my enamel heart earrings...i know: that's eight above because i am still waiting the custom gray shade i ordered for her. i already shipped the finished pairs and i am happy to report another satisfied customer!

life is...

a day at the beach! 

very unlike-a-lion weather this past weekend, so a walk on the beach it was.

we headed to hughlett point which looks out to the chesapeake bay.

we werent the only ones visiting, though... these footprints are from a bald eagle, i think...

we stopped by the walmart on the way home: they had a fantastic selection of pez dispensers!

the day ended with a pink tinge.

today's problem: one-click check out

admittedly, i love barbie, and this was on my wish list, but a wrong move with my finger made it mine almost immediately while reviewing my stuff late at night on my phone...fits right into my studio, though.

friday's diversion

it's really not a manicure: i just put some polish on my nails while waiting for a long document to finish printing last night...turned out nice: i'm calling it 'arugula mist' because i was wearing it when i picked some arugula from my garden today: fresh!
