it's the weekend guide!

tfgif!
it has been a fun week- so far-with the mlk holiday on monday and the event at the cosmos club on tuesday.
plus: the weather was decent. tonight, the party continues with the thievery corporation at the 9:30 club, night #3. its sold out as is tomorrow night; but the just-added sunday night show may still have tickets. thievery corporation at the 9:30 club is a must-see for music lovers.

elvis is in the building at the national portrait gallery saturday 11:30-5 with an exhibition, tribute concert and screening of (my favorite) elvis flick, viva las vegas. ann-margaret rocks!

if you feel cheeky later, head to the palace of wonders at 10:00 for the battle of the burlesque stars.
what?

liberty farmer's market

penn quarter in dc is one of my favorite neighborhoods. i have been clubbing there since the 80's (?)...the national portrait gallery and museum of american art are there, as are hundreds of great restaurants and bars...i love basketball and the verizon center is on the corner. i do a great art show, the downtown holiday market there in december. the cowgirl creamery cheese shop rocks! the one thing they don't have there is a raw food source: a grocery store. welcome, liberty market! liberty market is a new farmer's market open tuesdays from 2:30-6:30 at the corner of 7th & k streets on the grounds of the historic society of washington, dc at mt. vernon square. help promote community sustainability by supporting your local farmers, musicians and artists!

r.i.p. eunice kennedy shriver

earlier this summer i took a trip with friends to penn quarter in dc. between cocktails, we visited the national portrait gallery where i snapped a photo of this fantastic painting of eunice kennedy shriver with some of the kids who participate in the special olympics' games. eunice kennedy shriver was indeed a special woman herself:
her creativity and innovative spirit will truly be missed!
