house on haunted hill scavenger hunt

tonite artist andrew wodzianski opens his latest painting exhibit inspired by the 50th anniversary of the campy film "house on haunted hill" at flashpoint gallery in penn quarter. the opening runs 6-8 and includes a funerary performance: that sounds like fun! though the film was released in 1959, andrew kicks it up to the minute at midnight by tweeting details of an audience participation scavenger hunt that runs throughout october, culminating in a costume house party on friday the 30th with non-stop pbr. sounds scary!

street artist edgar mueller rocks!

german Street artist Edgar Mueller is so awesome. these paintings are mind-blowing and i would have to see them to actually believe them. this one is an apocalyptic transformation of a normal neighborhood street scene (ha!).

Cai Guo-Qiang at the guggenheim in spain
new york based artist Cai Guo-Qiang is hard to describe... he apparently had an explosive revelation and began using gunpowder as a medium. this obsession led to pseudo- explosions, and naturally, pyrotechnics. see his current mid-career retrospective at the guggenheim in bilboa through september 20th.
