pretty in pink: insects!

one of the few insects still around here this first day of autumn are the katydids: i just put the second one back outside! i might let them stay if they were pink like this one from new york! other insects also come in various hues of the shade, including a grasshopper found in Seaton Marshes Local Nature Reserve recently. pretty!

pretty in pink

usually i am not in favor of colored fixtures...but these look great in that all white display. yes, i think i like these, especially the shower basin. my grandmother would have wanted them in her house, which was ...pink!

cherry blossoms!

the national cherry blossom festival opened last saturday here in dc and the blossoms downtown should be at their peak bloom this weekend. i have an excursion planned for tomorrow to see the pinkness for myself! this is a photo of a weeping cherry tree in rock creek park near my house in maryland i took yesterday. click here to see the necklace i donated for the "pink tie party" auction to benefit the annual festival!

snowball in the gutter

after a false spring start, winter has returned. snow was forecast for today, but all i could find was this snowball in the gutter. sweet!
