i don't hate fall!

summer was meteorological over the first of september and officially over after labor day, but i cling to each and every sun ray til the bitter end: 9:18pm this tuesday, the exact time of the autumnal equinox. in fact, i am outside now, with fleece pants tucked into long socks and three layers on top: it's 68 degrees here on the chesapeake bay: burr! leaves are falling and a few are bright red (a little early for fall color, but not a huge amount of rain here), and i am feeling it: my cool weather clothes are sooo great! additionally, i ordered about 2/3 of anna sui's collection for target, so i'm ready! this little leaf pendant, electroformed in copper and on an adjustable black satin cord is a great fall accessory to wear with it all!

woodland tree coffee table

the jardim paulista residence by brazilian architect arthur casas is a nice modern dwelling, but what really caught my eye was that awesome slab o'tree coffee table: that is gorgeous! i just had my not-quite-as-large-or-diseased red oak cut down and i wish i had a slice as nice!

happy cinco de mayo

happy cinco de mayo! in honor of the mexican holiday, i selected some of my favorites from etsy by sellers based in old mexico! enjoy!
these skull beads from eatsleepcraft would look awesome in a day of the dead diarama! this cherry deer handbag from rosiemusic is just perfect for a woodland princess...or me. key to my heart earrings from toofashion are too cute! heart pouch from ziazia goes with the earrings above. the river dance necklace from glasspondstudio is nothing but lush. you could play all day with this great white shark finger puppet from mullishmuse. collectors need the crocheted sweater for blythe from bluenestboutique. smart girls wear an owl bracelet from chicalessia. cool girls will like the black moon cuff from blackmoon. doll furniture from larasfawn will keep blythe well seated.

don't try this at home!

i just listed this pendant in my etsy shop. the flower shape is a re-occurring theme in my work: i use it as a pendant in this case. i wanted to experiment with some acid etching (see the engraved ditsy flower pattern?), but i didn't realize getting nitric acid would be so difficult. i called a few local suppliers, who asked me multiple questions about my intended use of the corrosive chemical. they seemed skeptical of my explanation, and insisted on passing on my vitals to the authorities. oh, 9/11: i almost forgot! eventually, a friend was able to obtain some from a local university professor. whew! anyway, the results are fantastic despite the fact that the stuff is super dangerous!

herban elements™

my copper electroforming set up has been idle for sometime now. today is the day to resurrect it! the pendant above is a crape myrtle seed pod i electroformed in copper and then worked it with fine and sterling silver.
